Type Locality and Naming
Includes in Khation Region, Sughd Region, Darvaz district, Dushanbe - west Shirkent-Luchob, Dushanbe - east Shirkent-Luchob.

Lithology and Thickness
In the Kafirnigan district, the Dasgirak horizon of the upper Turonian is represented by greenish-gray clays and marls with layers of argillites, limestones, and sandstones (20-50 m)
In the South Gissar region, The Dasgirak horizon (Дасгирякекий1 Горизонт) of the Upper Turonian consists of ostracodes with layers of greenish-gray clays. Thickness is 35- 50 m.
In the Dushanbe region, The Dasgirak horizon of the Upper Turonian is formed by ostracodes with layers of greenish-gray clays (35-50 m).
In the Vakhsh district, The Dasgiryaq horizon is formed by variegated clays and aleurolites containing layers of limestone and gypsum (35-55 m).
In the Darvaz district, The Dasgiryaq horizon of the upper Turonian consists of detrital limestones with layers of sandy clays, the thickness of it 15-30 m.
In the Karategin region, The Dasgirak horizon (Дасгирякский горизонт) of the upper Turonian is composed of greenish-gray siltstones, nodular limestones, sandstones, and shell limestones (15-17 m).
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Overlies the Talhab Fm or lies with a sharp angular unconformity on the Paleozoic.
Upper contact
Underlies the Muzrabat Fm.
Regional extent
Afghan-Tajik Basin. It is widespread in South Gissar region, Dushanbe region, Kafirnigan district, Vakhsh district, Darvaz district, Karategin region.

Fossils
In the South Gissar region, The ostracodes are mainly composed of oyster shells Fatina (Costeina) costei (Coq.). In the clays, shells of ammonites Collignoniceras woolgari (Mant.), C. intermedium (Haas), and the shells of sea urchins Sternotalis planus (Mant.) are found.
In the Dushanbe region, formed by ostracods. The fauna remains here are analogous. The characteristics are similar to those described for the Southern Hissar district.
In the Karategin region, Fatina (Costeina) costei (Coq.).
